Midwifery in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has no state regulations prohibiting or restricting the practice of Direct Entry Midwives.
Heaven Sent Birth midwives adhere to the guidelines, ethics of practice, and principals set forth by the Midwives Alliance of North Americaguidelines. We are currently involved in the MANA Statistics Project and were involved in the CPM 2000 Statistics Project.
Margarett ScottMargarett Scott is a Certified Professional Midwife, certified as a Registered Midwife with the North American Registry of Midwives; a national testing program. She is a member of the Midwives Alliance of North America, the Heartland Midwives Association and the Oklahoma Birth Network. She currently holds the post of Coordinator for Heartland Midwives Association. In 1987 she began her training in Oklahoma with Julianna (Linda) Witten, Senior Midwife, and was the first Midwife to complete the certification program instituted by the OMA. In 2006 Margarett, along with other local birth activists, founded the Heartland Midwives Association. She has taken a course in limited obstetrical ultrasound, is a Certified Breastfeeding Educator and has completed an extensive course in herbal studies. She has studied many alternative health care modalities, such as homeopathy and aromatherapy. Margarett has taught classes in pregnancy, childbirth, herbs and midwifery skills to various groups. She has had a successful midwifery practice in the Oklahoma City area since 1988, with a special interest in water births, VBAC births and first time mothers.
