We Believe . . .

We believe in women and their ability to give birth.
We believe that with personalized yet professional care, women can have the birth experience they desire and deserve.
Your body was made to give birth, we serve you to assure the health and safety of both mother and baby. We believe that birth is a normal, natural process–not a medical event. We believe that in the absence of special circumstances, birth is safest when it is left alone. Our goal is to help birthing families make the best decisions for themselves and their babies by giving them information and confidence in their own abilities and judgment. We believe that the birth experience is sacred and spiritual and that it should be protected as well as cherished. We believe that birth will be positive and joyful when women birth without fear because they know they have made their decisions based on verifiable facts rather than fear or misinformation. We hope to help families experience the birth of their child without unnecessary interventions–to experience birth, naturally.
Many studies have shown that out of hospital birth is safe for healthy mothers and babies. We believe in and follow the Midwives Model of Care. The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. The Midwives Model of Care includes:
  • Monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother throughout the childbearing cycle.
  • Providing the mother with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support.
  • Minimizing technological interventions
  • Identifying and referring women who require obstetrical attention.
The application of this model has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section.
